We have teamed up with our good friend Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, to raise funds to support our joint initiatives in Ghana, Africa.
Like the Duchess, we are passionate about leaving a lasting legacy and wish to fund grass-roots, education projects that have a life-changing impact on children living in poverty. Our current priority is to fund a primary and secondary school in the remote village of Ayensuako in rural Ghana and join the Duchess in her mission.
‘I am dedicated to being a voice for the forgotten children and crisis-stricken communities around the world, and I am absolutely delighted that my good friends John and Jeff have chosen to join me in supporting a project that is so close to my heart.’ Sarah, Duchess of York.
The families living in Ayensuako cannot afford the cost of travel, uniforms or exam fees that are needed to send their children to the nearest state school over 30 miles away. So, without funding from people like us, the 300 children living in the village would not be in education. Instead, they would be confined to following in the footsteps of their elders and working on arid land under the constant threat of drought.
As well as providing everything that you would expect from a school, the project pays for the pupils’ school uniforms and backpacks and houses a library and water well, providing the only source of books and clean water for miles around.
Please join us in supporting this important project and help to break the cycle of poverty in Ayensuako. With an education behind them, the children will be able to dream, to aspire and achieve….to become nurses, teachers, entrepreneurs and maybe even the President! Please join us in helping to make this happen.
Sarah’s Trust was founded by the Duchess of York in 2018 with three primary aims
1. Give funding: To introduce philanthropists to causes that need funding and support to create impactful and sustainable change.
2. Build infrastructure: To provide ‘gift in kind’ expertise from our world-class team of experts. This team provides leadership, mentoring and dedicated staff to build capability and to share skills and best practice. They help to build an infrastructure that uses a cost-effective and streamlined approach to deliver social enterprise.
3. Create awareness: To build awareness and publicise campaigns through our network of thought and business leaders on the issues that need to be brought to the forefront of the public’s attention.
Sarah’s Trust ensures that 100% of donations are spent directly on charitable projects. All administration costs are covered by the Duchess of York’s personal contribution.
We have no marketing or fundraising costs, consequently, we are completely transparent in the way we work to ensure that donors can be confident that all of their donation reaches charitable projects.
Along with the Duchess of York’s personal contribution to Sarah’s Trust we also seek the support of organisations and individuals.
‘With funding from Sarah’s Trust, we were able to help over 900 children and adults living in poverty with no access to clean water, to better protect themselves against the spread of Covid-19. We are extremely grateful to the Duchess of York and her team for their proactive and thoughtful approach to their grant making.
